The 7th Workshop on the Characterization of Heparin Products
December 12 – 13, 2017; London, UK Symposium organised by the National Institute for Biological Standards and Controls (NIBSC) and the United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP); sponsored by the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, King’s College London.

Participants of this 7th Workshop on the Characterization of Heparin Products will be encouraged to take part in open discussions on issues arising from current Pharmacopoeia monographs and quality attributes of heparin products. Preliminary topics include:

• Bovine unfractionated heparin (UFH)
• US FDA perspective on re-introduction of bovine heparin to the US market.
• Production of bovine heparin API
• USP Bovine Heparin round robin study results on potency, molecular weight distribution, NMR characterization, process related impurities
• Pharmacopoeial monograph revisions
• Pharmacopoeial perspective
• Industry perspective
• Low molecular weight heparins (LMWH)
• Production of LMWH from sources of different origin
• Characterization of biosimilar LMWH
• Novel indications for heparin products
