Description

The Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London and the Centre for Private Law at Harvard are pleased to present Philosophical Foundations of Equity Law

The conference will bring together many world leading scholars on the Law of Equity, with the aim of exploring the fundamental structure of Equity, the values it instantiates and its relationship to other areas of law. The papers will range in subject matter from underlying themes like Equity’s distinctive perspective on liability in private law, to the scope of its ‘fusion’ with common law, and the extent to which various doctrines still reflect the values that motivated the development of Equity.

Speakers Include:

Samuel L Bray; Simone Degeling; Mathieu Devinat; James Edelman; Andrew Gold; John C. P. Goldberg; Larissa Katz; Dennis Klimchuk; Ben McFarlane; Paul B. Miller; Aruna Nair; J E Penner; Irit Samet; Emily Sherwin; Henry Smith; Lionel Smith; Rob Stevens; Benjamin C. Zipursky.

The conference is being organised by Professor Dennis Klimchuk (Western Ontario), Professor Henry Smith (Harvard Law School) and Dr Irit Samet (KCL).

Papers will be available to registered participants two weeks before the event. Please note that speakers will not present their papers, and the sessions will be devoted solely to discussion.
