UKAAN Training Course 2024 - Pharmacological Treatment of Adults with ADHD

Description

Overview

The workshop will provide training in pharmacological treatments for ADHD. Following the course participants should be able to initiate and optimise treatments for ADHD.

Topics Include:

What drugs can be used to treat ADHD

Side effects, adverse effects and drug interactions

Initiation and tittration of drug treatments to provide optimal control of ADHD symptoms

Recognising and monitoring the symptom response and long term outcomes

Psychoeducation related to the pharmacological treatment of ADHD in adults.

Study Methods

A combination of presentations, interactive training, group work and discussion.

Who should attend?

This workshop is aimed at professionals working within adult mental health and specialist services such as forensic and addiction psychiatry. This is relevant to psychiatrists at all stages of training but also other members of the mental health team (including GP's) who are involved in evaluating treatment outcomes and prescribing medication.

Accreditation

The course content has been independently certified as conforming to accepted CPD guidelines.

UKAAN Training Course 2024 - Psychosocial Support and Skills Training

Description

Overview

This workshop will provide an overview of a wide range of psychosocial approaches available to use alongside pharmacological treatment for ADHD. Following this course, participants should have greater awareness and more confidence in utilising these approaches in order to provide clients access to the best possible psychosocial outcomes.

Who should attend?

The workshop is aimed at professionals working in adult neurodevelopmental services, adult mental health teams and other specialist services. The training will be relevant to Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychiatrists and other mental health clinicians with an interest in adult ADHD.

Topics include:

  • Understanding functional impairment in ADHD
  • Making psychoeducation meaningful
  • When might CBT/ACT/Mindfulness/Coaching be helpful
  • Taking a strengths-based approach

This workshop will provide training in the diagnosis of ADHD. Following the course, participants should be able to screen for and diagnose ADHD and distinguish ADHD from other common mental health disorders.

Topics Include:

How to properly diagnose ADHD

Use of Diagnostic interviews (CAADID and DIVA) for diagnosing ADHD

Differentiating ADHD in adults from other common mental health disorders.

Study Methods

A combination of presentations, interactive training, group work and discussion.

Who should attend?

This workshop is aimed at professionals working within adult mental health and specialist services such as forensic and addiction psychiatry. This is relevant to psychiatrists at all stages of training but also other members of the mental health team including nurses and psychologists.
