Description

German Requiem by Johannes Brahms—its London History: talks and performance with the Choir of King’s College London

As the Choir of King’s College London embarks on its next recording project with Delphian Records—the German Requiem (London Version) by Johannes Brahms—we present a pre-recording discussion and performance of the work.

The talks, from speakers including Dr. Katy Hamilton and Dr. Joseph Fort, will focus on features particular to this performance—the 1871 English-language version, and some of the issues presented by the four-hands piano accompaniment.

For the performance, the Choir of King’s College London will be joined by Mary Bevan (soprano), Marcus Farnsworth (baritone), James Baillieu and Richard Uttley (pianists), with Joseph Fort conducting.

Talks: 6-7pm
Performance: 8-9.15pm

Please note that tickets provide access to both the talks and the performance, but that it is not necessary to attend both—it is fine just to arrive for the performance. Tickets are non-refundable.
