The workshop seeks to help business professionals, organisational leaders, and learning communities reimagine circular economy challenges through the lens of living systems. The workshops are interactive, hands-on, and grounded in extensive academic research. Participants work directly with the Nature’s Playbook toolkit to explore how ecological principles can open up new ways of thinking about business, value, systems, and change. Through short lectures, guided reflection, outdoor observation, collaborative exercises, and facilitated dialogue, participants are supported to challenge assumptions, generate new ideas, and explore alternative approaches to circular economy practice. This session will be a demonstration of the Nature’s Playbook Toolkit. No preparation is needed before joining the workshop. More information: https://www.naturesplaybook.org/workshops
Ecological Design Thinking for a Circular Economy December 2026DescriptionFull 5-hour workshop with Dr Emma Fromberg Join Dr Emma Fromberg at the King’s College London Centre for Sustainable Business for an immersive, 5-hour workshop exploring how insights from living systems can inspire new approaches to circularity, resilience and sustainable business. Designed for business professionals, organisational leaders and sustainability practitioners, the workshop offers a creative and practical way to approach complex circular economy challenges. Participants work directly with Nature’s Playbook: Ecological Design Thinking for a Circular Economy, a research-based learning tool that translates insights from ecology into prompts for systems thinking, innovation and action. Rather than working with a hypothetical case, participants are invited to bring a real circular economy challenge from their own professional context. Through short lectures, guided reflection, outdoor observation, collaborative exercises and facilitated dialogue, the workshop creates space to step outside familiar ways of thinking, explore relationships and dependencies within a system, and generate new possibilities for change. The learning journey draws attention to dimensions of circularity that can easily be overlooked, including long-term resilience, relational value and place-based thinking. Participants leave with a new lens for approaching complex challenges, ideas directly relevant to their own practice, and a practical tool they can continue using afterwards. What participants will gain: By working with ecological principles, participants will strengthen their systems thinking, uncover new perspectives on circular economy challenges, and explore how lessons from living systems can be translated into practical action in their own context.
