Cheselden Meeting 2024Info Location Contact Event Information
DescriptionWilliam Cheselden, an innovator and founding father of British surgery, was appointed to St. Thomas’ Hospital in 1712. The Cheselden meeting was established decades ago to honour his legacy. The meeting aims to provide a forum for surgeons across all specialities to interact and share ideas and expertise. The meeting will begin with abstract sessions, followed by a lecture from our keynote speaker Professor Sebastien Ourselin FREng FMedSci. The evening will then continue with a drinks reception and a black-tie three-course dinner. Professor Ourselin is the Head of the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences at King’s College London and the Director of the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering. He was also recently appointed as the Director for Digital Health and Data Sciences at King’s Health Partners. Together with Guy’s & St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, he has led the establishment of MedTech Hub, which is on track to become the largest community of health tech innovators in Europe. It is a unique ecosystem, enabling academia, industry and the NHS to work in synergy and develop health technologies (including medical devices), workforce and operational improvements that will be of global significance. This is a rare opportunity to learn from a true pioneer in groundbreaking innovative work that translates into real clinical practice, one that must not be missed! The ticket price includes a 3-course black-tie dinner, drinks, and refreshment throughout the day.
