Security and Precarity: psychoanalytic and cultural perspectives 

We live in a world of with an increasing sense of precarity – the surge of the extreme right around the world, climate change and more broadly the undermining of civic society.   

Our sense of security derives from the close interaction between inner and outer situations and so this subject provides an ideal platform to consider these separate domains and their relation to each other. 

This colloquium will interrogate the ways in which security and precarity are mediated in individual, groups and more broadly. 

Speakers this year will be Jess Cotton, Alexandra Stefan, Donna James, Michael Rustin and Stina Lyon. 

Registration costs £80 or £20 to early career scholars. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. 
 
The New Imago Forum was set up in in 2012 as a regular interdisciplinary colloquium involving psychoanalysts/psychoanalytic psychotherapists and academics: sociologists, philosophers, anthropologists, classicists, economists, writers and literary theorists. Originally it was a residential meeting held in Oxford but (after a break for a few years because of COVID) it re-stablished itself as a yearly meeting at King's College London.
