Description

This course has been designed to provide a detailed theoretical and practical understanding of how to effectively use different qualitative methods and methodologies in the context of cross-disciplinary health research (whether that is in clinical or academic settings).

The course will cover methodological issues from research design through to publication and will provide delegates with the advanced knowledge and skills they require to successfully undertake rigorous qualitative research in whichever setting they choose. It will combine theoretical and practical elements to ensure students are equipped with both understanding and ability when designing qualitative studies and undertaking qualitative analyses.

The course will run for one whole week across five consecutive days (Monday to Friday) from 9:00am to 17:00pm (BST) each day.

​​The Advanced Course in Aviation Medicine (ACAM) builds on the foundations of the Basic Course in Aviation Medicine with successful completion of both required to apply for Class 1 medical certification privileges. The course will provide sound theoretical and practical training in physiology, psychology and clinical practice in relation to aerospace medicine. 
 
Applicants are required to have successfully completed the Basic Course in Aviation Medicine course or equivalent. 
 
All teaching and the final exam is in English. There is no formal language requirement for this course but an IELTS score of 5 or higher is strongly recommended for applicants whose first language is not English.​

​​Psychology has been crucial to flight safety from the earliest days of civil and military aviation. The importance of psychology to flight safety and crew mental health and wellbeing has taken on greater significance since 2015, where there have been well-publicised incidents and accidents directly and indirectly related to crew mental health and wellbeing. It is now an EASA requirement that airlines provide peer support for crew to support mental health and wellbeing, undertake psychological evaluations of new entrant pilots, and also for AME’s to develop their mental health assessment skills.

Description

This course from King’s provides an exceptional faculty of internationally renowned experts in the field of cardiac MRI.  At the end of the course, attendees:

•    Will have a solid understanding of what is stress perfusion CMR and how it works;
•    Understanding of when to refer a patient for stress CMR, and the different indications for adenosine, regadenoson, low-dose dobutamine and high-dose dobutamine;
•    How to interpret and report stress CMR imaging, including recognition of pitfalls and artefacts;
•    Overview of the basic CMR physics relevant for stress perfusion imaging acquisition
•    Understanding of the post-processing techniques
•    Understanding of the different applications of cardiac CT and stress CMR 
•    Review of the scientific evidence and guidelines supporting the use of stress imaging 
•    Learn how to set up a clinical CMR stress test service
