Description

Be transported back to Shakespeare’s London, discover the magic of stagecraft, and explore the sights of Southwark’s Bankside area – London’s original theatre district – on Shakespeare’s Walking Tour.

Beginning in our walk-through exhibition space, you’ll immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and secrets of Shakespeare’s London, travelling through over 400 years of fascinating history.

Then, venturing out onto the streets of Bankside, our expert Guides will bring to life thrilling stories of the area around Shakespeare’s Globe including Thameside ferrymen, gruesome animal-baiting sports, and the rise of one of Elizabethan London’s original playhouses, The Rose, where it is believed that some of Shakespeare’s earliest plays were first performed.

You’ll finish your journey with a sneak peak into the Globe Theatre itself, giving you the opportunity to experience our iconic wooden ‘O’ and perhaps even see our acting companies preparing for their next performance.

All tours are in English and suitable for all ages. Information sheets are available in a number of languages.

The Shakespeare's Walking Tour starts at 3:30PM.

Students should only buy tickets for themselves. These events have been booked for incoming study abroad students only. Do not buy a ticket on behalf of anyone else. If you have friends or family who want to join the tour, they can book their own tickets directly through the vendor.
