This course addresses a fundamental issue which cuts across healthcare: how to support patients to use treatment most effectively.
The course comprises a short-online module, self-directed reflective practice and two days in-person training session. The first session is on 4 February 2025, 6-8 PM. The second session is on 5 February 2025, 6-8 PM. Participants must attend both training sessions.
The course provides a practical evidence-based foundation for clinicians wishing to understand, identify and address nonadherence to medications. Attendees will develop their understanding of nonadherence to treatment and the impacts on patient health and healthcare systems. They will learn about behavioural science relevant to adherence to treatment. Students will be introduced to, and practice using, tools to identify patients at risk of nonadherence. They will also develop skills in key behaviour change techniques relevant to nonadherence. Course participants will explore how these techniques could be used to address issues within their current practice.
There are no fixed entry requirements however it is expected that all participants will be qualified healthcare professionals.
