Description

Elektra – A Throne Restored

A bold and contemporary reimagining of the classic Greek tragedy, Elektra – A Throne Restored brings new depth to the timeless tale of power, justice, and vengeance. Written and directed by Ines Neacsa, this production follows Elektra, a woman determined to reclaim the throne of Mycenae after her father’s brutal murder. As she fights for justice, she must navigate political divisions, generational conflict, and the personal sacrifices that come with her quest.

This adaptation delves into the complexities of power and morality, examining how ancient struggles for justice continue to resonate in the modern world. Whether an experienced theatre enthusiast or a newcomer to Greek tragedy, audiences will find themselves immersed in a thought-provoking exploration of fate, duty, and the cost of change.

Particularly relevant for students of Greek tragedy, ethics, or political philosophy, the play offers a compelling opportunity to engage with classical themes that remain deeply influential today.

Evening performances will be preceded by pre-show events at 6pm featuring leading scholars; these are free for that evening’s ticketholders.

PLEASE NOTE: reduced rates and group bookings are available for school & further education groups. To book email greekplay@kcl.ac.uk directly. Teachers accompanying their students go free: please email to arrange.
