Advanced Kidney Care Symposium 2026

Description

Join us for a multidisciplinary day reviewing developments in Advanced Kidney Care. 

In 2026 this one-day face-to-face symposium returns with an exciting schedule relevant to all healthcare professionals involved in this vital phase of kidney care. 

Session topics include:

  • Planning for the right access at the right time
  • When to start renal replacement therapy
  • Health literacy and digital access in Advanced Kidney Care
  • Optimising home haemodialysis
  • Caring for advanced kidney care patients with severe mental illness
  • Medication in Advanced Kidney Care
  • Supporting health at higher body weight across the Advanced Kidney Care pathway
  • Transplantation in later life
  • Transform AKC update 

Learning Objectives: 

1) Develop an understanding of health literacy, how it can be assessed, how it can affect decision making, and ways in which communication can be improved in patients with lower health literacy. Learn about how patients with mental illness may be supported in AKC to their improve outcomes. 

2) Learn about the latest developments and considerations in vascular access to get the right access for the patient at the right time. Develop an understanding of indications to start dialysis and communication with patients. 

3) Consider strategies for increasing uptake of home haemodialysis and transplantation in older patients. Develop an understanding of which patients may benefit and optimizing chances of long-term success.
